The new Kinesiology Faculty Building of University of New Brunswick is a research cluster focused on health, wellness, physical fitness and health promotion that establishes New Brunswick as a leader in preventative and rehabilitative health care. The 60,000-square-foot centre began construction in Fall 2016 and was completed in Spring 2018.
The building design called for a vegetated roof along with a patio area. Knowing it’s impossible to see what’s happening below the vegetation and patio, roof monitoring and leak detection systems were factored into the construction documents so that if problems arose they could be addressed in a timely manner before making a huge negative impact.
ILD was hired to install their Smartex® DM roof monitoring system, an intelligent flat roof monitoring system that tracks the moisture ingress of roofing systems 24/7 and makes contact when there’s a breach. When construction was completed, ILD ensured water tightness through their Vector Mapping Grid (VMG) and EFVM® (Electric Field Vector Mapping) testing to give the roof the green light. Once the vegetation was installed, we retested the roof system.
Building owners looking for peace of mind from water damage today and tomorrow rely on ILD advanced technology.
