International Leak Detection (ILD®) announced today that its EFVM® leak detection system has received approval for the RoofStar Guarantee program by the Roofing Contractors Association of British Columbia (RCABC).

Electric Field Vector Mapping (EFVM®) was brought to North America from Germany by ILD in the late 1990’s. Over the years that followed, ILD continued to hone the technology and in 2003 introduced it to the Canadian market. EFVM is an efficient, effective and non-destructive leak detection method that creates an electrical potential difference between a non-conductive membrane surface and a conductive substrate. By applying water on the membrane surface and using the water as a conductive medium, an electric field is created. Any breach in the membrane creates a vector. ILD’s inspectors read the electric flow traveling across the membrane, mapping the vectors with pinpoint accuracy so that any found leaks may be repaired.
